The text reads "Congratulations on your victory in the fight over the oldest known lance". The struggle between Alex (and Verden in general) and the regional museum in Hanover, which tried to keep the lance after originally promising to return it after conservation and initial study, made headlines and generated a great deal of sympathy in the general population, which felt that the lance should be returned to where it was found.
