Zwerge Rohrdommel (dwarf bittern) in rehabilitation. The bird had a broken wing that
could not be set. Alexander amputated it and kept the bird in his study for about a
year before reluctantly releasing it into the wild, although he knew it would probably
die as a result of not being able to fly.
